C is for China (and Cupcakes)!

Boy, am I ever excited. At 12:30 this afternoon, I will be on a flight to Beijing!
I've decided to convert this blog into a temporary travel log while I'm there. I mean, why the heck not?

I can start by saying that the trip always begins prior to departure. For me, the trip began last night, when I carried home 7 dozen cupcakes. I wanted some for friends that I'd see before I left, and I also wanted to see how far I can get these little suckers into China.

Because it was drizzling last night, I stacked my cupcake boxes into a huge pile and wrapped them in a trash bag. It towered so high that as I carried it down M Street, nobody could see my head! I don't know if I have ever gotten so many stares- or seen so many people outright laughing at me. I mean, I've done eye-catching things before, like wearing those 300 cups on my head last year... and dressing in a giant goose costume freshman year... but I guess in both those cases, I wasn't able to see much what with the huge headpieces.

Well, I do suppose I looked kind of odd- a headless figure stumbling down M Street on a Friday night with riding boots, a short skirt, and a long winter coat. It was totally worth my temporary lack of feminine poise though- I find it most appropriate to launch any grand adventure with confectionery treats. Wheee!
