Don't you love it when people pick something up and remix it a billion times?
The other day my friend Amy shared this video and when I went on YouTube to view it, I found people had really went to town on it. I mean, we've got video game versions, movie versions, TV versions, cartoon versions, and even original video recordings.
I looked online to see if there is any sort of word for this behavior- for taking a meme and remixing the living daylights of it- but I couldn't seem to find one. I did find a Wired post from last year on how people were having a blast with Hitler Remixes... aiyah.
I wonder when this started happening. We have always had inside jokes, and we have always been imitating things... but when did people really get going with it online? I wish I could find a book on it or something @_@
Oh well. I guess I can just muse over the sheer volume of "Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" iterations there are on YouTube right now.
